Mag-drive centrifugal pumps made of plastic, created by injection molding up to BM50 size. Whereas, starting from the BM80 model, they are mechanically machined from solid plastic block.

BM magnetic pumps operate with maximum nominal pressure PN 4 to 20°C.

Performance curves

The range of BM magnetically coupled pumps guarantees flow-rates from 135 m³/h and heads up to 48 m w.c.
(meters water column). The performance can change as the characteristics of the liquid being pumped vary.
Pumps with 60 Hz motors are available upon request.

Corrosion resistant materials

The structural and hydraulic plastic parts of BM magnetic pumps are made of PP or PVDF (injection molded, drawn, extruded or plastic sleeved). The plastic material is chosen according to the specific operating conditions: corrosion resistant plastic resins with different chemical compatibilities based on the liquids to be pumped.

Material of pumping unit:

  • Pump and impeller: PP or PVDF.
  • Static shaft: Sintered Ceramic (Al2O3).
  • Bushing: filled PTFE (option: Silicon Carbide).
  • O-ring: EPDM (pumps made of PP) or FPM (pumps made of PVDF).

Magnetic coupling materials:

  • Permanent magnets made from neodynium-iron-boron (NeFeBo).

Mag-drive pump options

Savino Barbera magnetically coupled pumps can be assembled with some optional equipment:

  • 4 pole motors with 60 Hz power (1450 rpm).
  • Explosion proof motors (Ex-d).
  • Base-plate made of PP in three different sizes.
  • Zone 2 ATEX pumps.
  • Connections: backing rings, hose adaptors, male threads (depending upon the models).

Mechanical seal or magnetic coupling?

The choice between mechanical seal pumps and magnetic drive pumps can easily be misled by incorrect
installation habits. For example, we are sometimes asked to provide mag-drive pumps for services not
compatible with applications requiring zero emissions: those who prefer the magnetic coupling can in
fact presume that the transmission through magnetic joint is a safer system compared to the mechanical
seal. However, if on one hand the mechanical seal is more easily subject to leakage, on the other hand
the supposed hermetically closed design of encapsulated magnets must be taken into consideration because
it can become a problem for the nature of some liquids. To make a calculated technical choice, we invite
